I just heard word from my boy that he just traded in 5 used DS games for a brand spankin' new Nintendo DS at EB Games... The crimson/black version....
It doesn't list it on the EB website....So I went to the EB Games at Scarborough Town Centre to check it out... and it's true! The only stipulation is that the value of the used game has to be listed at $8 or more, which isn't too bad, but you can also trade in old xbox or ps2 games too (but the $8 rule still applies).
You can't bundle up cheaper games to make up $8 either!
Since I've been wantin' the Crimson/Black DS for a while still, I figured this is a good time to clean house of some old games anyways, and try to get a new DS!
If you want a PSP too, they got a similar deal: Trade in 8 games and you get a PSP. (I think the value is greater than $8 too, but don't quote me on that.)
Go check it out if you don't play your older games once you finish 'em.... and I'm probably gonna look into a cyclo evolution (If you don't know about it, google it! It'll be worth your while!) =)
Makes sense though.

***Update***
I just came back from EB Games Markville, EB Games Scarborough Town Centre, & EB Games on Milner/Morningside. (Don't EVER try to trade your games at EB Marville though, the manager there is NOT helpful whatsoever, and made it pretty difficult to deal with. He even said "He'd get in trouble from the head office if he tried to help me out). Luckily the Scarborough Town Centre AND Milner/Morningside EB Games were both very helpful.... and all-in-all, I got my DS!
The Nintendo DS cost me:
(1) Super Mario Bros. (DS)
(1) Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (DS)
(1) Metroid Prime Hunters (DS)
(1) NBA 2K7 (Xbox 360)
(1) Top Spin 2 (Xbox 360)
Total Value: $63 (At EB Re-Sale Value)
The regular price is $129.99 (+ taxes). So that's a savings of over $83!I highly recommend anyone with extra games to go out and get a free DS ('specially if you're NOT playing those games anyways!
I also traded in:
(1) NBA Ballers (Xbox)
(1) Feel The Magixc (DS)
(1) NBA Street Vol. 2 (Xbox)
(1) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
for a set of protective stickers (for the Nintendo DS). All the stylus rubbing will form scratches on the DS screens over time...
Great deal, go check it out now!
It's a little late now, but I just wanted to post up some of the pics from our Introductions... creative show. It was amazing, and even more people than we had anticipated attended! Truth be told, we would've been happy if 10 people showed up, but it was more like 3x that amount!
I left some critique cards for people to fill out, as we want to know what everyone thinks! Hearing good stuff is all fine and dandy, but it's the criticism and what people didn't like that makes you grow and evolve as an artist.
The buzz was amazing, and we went well past our 9:30 end time. It definitely was a night of coffee, graphic design, mixed media & photography.
What's up everybody,
Just wanted to give a shout to anyone who'd like to come out tomorrow, Thursday Feb. 21 @ 7pm-9pm to a new Coffee House on 388 College St. called Kahawa Coffee House. It's a great little Coffee mecca hidden in downtown Toronto.
It's owned by one of my friends and she has graciously offered it to me and 2 of my creative friends to have a night of Coffee, Mixed Media, Photography and Graphic Design. It'll be a really casual evening with some of our pieces up and around the place and of course, some great coffee.
I've recently started full swing on my Design Studio, Realiz Designs, and will be showing some of the work that I've done over the years. There will also be a mixed Media Artist, Lazi (aka Justin) and a Photographer Kevin.
You can see some of our work online:
Kevin (Photography) - www.oldeyorke.ca/kevin.html
Justin (Mixed Media) - www.lazi.oldeyorke.ca
Shaun (Graphic Design) - www.realizdesigns.com
So if you're into Coffee, Mixed Media, Photography or Design, we'd love for you to come out. But the Coffee Shop is a very cozy place, so try to let me know if you can make it, message me back at at VOX if you'd like to come.
If not, we will try to make this a bi-monthly creative night for other people as well, let me know if you're interested! We'd love to show your work in there the next time!
Thanks, I hope to see you all there!
Realiz.
2008... Elevate.
So me and my brother, and 2 buddies (who brought 2 people as well) went to the Little Brother at the Mod Club yesterday, Oct. 23. We also met up with a buddy down there bringing our total to 7...
While Evidence (Of Dialated Peoples), and Arabesque did a great job moving the crowd... and even got one of my boys to buy their CD's.....
Little Brother kicked serious @$$.
First of all it was my first LB concert, I missed 'em a bunch of times in T.O. before....
Some things to note:
1. Big Pooh is, well, BIG. (I heard he wasn't this big before)
2. Phonte got bigger too. (Apparently he is the size Pooh was before)
3. Phonte's a funny, happy dude.
3a. Phonte's also got a really long tongue.
4. The Getback album came out yesterday too. It was the last album of their 3 album contract, so they celebrated with some drinks on stage (and some from the crowd came up and celebrated with them too!),
BUT!
How crazy is it that on their release date, they're celebrating in Toronto with us instead of maybe their hometown in NC or something.... crazy.
5. Darien Brockington looks MAD skinny next to LB.
6. DBrock can saaaang.
7. The crowd was crazy hype. The vibe was perfect.....
8. Drinking then eating crazy hot mexican food from Sneaky Dee's does not mix well together.
All in all it was a nice night, and there was even some nice/hot girls out in the crowd, and they were supporting, not groupie'in...... nice.
Oh yeah, for those who know....
I screened this shirt for my self for the concert:
Who knows about that?
Notice the Nike box labels?
I really wish this piece went to print...
There was some great pieces done on these decks, and I had the arduous task of selecting and showcasing these amazing pieces of artwork within the confines of 2 pages in a magazine. It would never do it justice. I tried to silhouette a drawing of a city skate park at the bottom of the first (top) version, while dissecting the boards into squares, but I felt it took over and lessened the impact of the artwork on the boards. Nice attempt, but I have to keep pushing past....
Until I realized that these boards were showcased in the gallery like artwork. Hung in a gallery space for you to see, and peruse through... I wanted to convey that although these boards were, uh.... skateboards, they were far more than that. They were art.
I wanted something that came out at the viewer. And at the bottom (final) version I succeeded in doing so. The art although from at least 15 different photos, melded into in uniform piece, while existing independently from each other. Some came out at the viewer, some hung facing straight at you. Although the sizing varies, the impact is not lost. I showcased some of the best artwork in the gallery, and unfortunately there was so many more that I wanted to put in. Hopefully they do another show like this in the future!
Today was really beautiful. Toronto was really warm about a month ago, like 20+ degrees Celsius.... but you knew colder weather was gonna come back. And it did.
But this is different *knock on wood*. No more cold.
The feeling that something amazing is just around the corner. I could smell that spring air freshness all day....
wow.
I love Toronto, just not days like that. Sh!t. I wanted to post some more graphic design stuff, but I'm so swamped in my Myths & Legends class that I just can't right now.
One of the questions I'm answering is:
All world cultures have creation myths/stories/legends. Why do you think that is? What are some of our modern creation and origin myths?
Anybody know of any good creation myths from different cultures? (I'm not trying to cheat, it's just good to get other people's stories from their culture. geez.
